ABOUT MARTY

Hi and thanks for visiting! I'm Marty and I'm an aspiring Board Game Developer & Rules + Mechanics Designer. As an avid Gamer of Video & Board games I have a massive passion for designing experiences for my friends and others, be it via custom level/game mode makers in games, or my own attempts at Homebrew Rules for Board Games.

I absolutely love making rules that allow players to play their favourite games in different ways, I thrive on designing rules that enhance replayability, balance mechanics, and empower player creativity.

I will give a brief outline of some of my projects down below, but if you want a more in depth look at some of my work feel free to visit my Google Drive Folder which contains Prints of some of the Rules, Tokens and Cards and some of the Community Tools I've made as well.

Portfolio Files Folder here.

HOMEBREW & EVENT PROJECTS

  • I Created several expansion and complementary rules for Dark Souls: The Board Game.

  • Designed new AI cards, modular boards, and expanded character systems.

  • Added environmental hazards such as emitter traps, poison swamps, and fire runs.

  • Built community templates for custom content creation.

Scroll through the below Gallery to see a small collection of the work I have put into the game so far, click on each Picture for a more detailed description.

  • Created a mini game for 3-8 Players, Dem Hunger Paines Games (to be changed to Hunger Royale when I update the rules), especially good for when there's an odd amount of Players in the store.

  • Much like it's name sakes, the game is designed to be a fun battle royal type game that forces players to use just 1-2 small ships, which must traverse the arena collecting additional weapons/upgrades for their ships, while the arena shrinks over time.

  • Makes use of old cards no longer used in the game, but can be used with current cards and upgrades too.

upgrade boxes, flying over these grants the Player access        them some outrageously overpowered ships.

to a random upgrade (decided by a dice roll).

  • In collaboration with my Local Board Game Store, I made a fun Warhammer 40k Apocalypse event. Designed to be an open invite for any players and made to be completed within a day.

  • For ease of access, power points used instead of Points (this was back in 2017, when points was used and every upgrade & weapon option was paid for).

  • A respawn rule was added to prevent any saltiness that can happen often in games like this, where the most destructive units are removed from the game very early on, with the Player not getting a chance to use said unit.

  • Due to the scale of the game and the forced time limit, additional time was allotted to allow for a way to give the game closure, a sudden death rule was implemented based on units that are within range of the relic on the final turn.

  • This website, it will cover Board Games and other artistic hobbies. In combination with the YouTube & Twitch Platforms I plan on providing written and video content that covers: Painting, modelling, lets plays, homebrew content, Kickstarters, raising awareness for some amazing and under appreciated games and events + tournament coverage (live streaming and commentating).

  • I've had to learn a lot to make this site and thanks to it I learned and reinforced my knowledge in site design, colour theory, animation and digital art (mostly Pixel art).

  • In the gallery below is some of the behind the scenes work I did on Omega Geekery, when I make concepts I go all in to make sure I find the right one.

  • and below the gallery is some of the GIFs I made for the Omega Geekery, featuring the Sites mascot Lucky.
